DENTYNE
Concept:
This project was inspired by Dentyne’s retro-style voiceover, evoking a sense of nostalgia that guided the creative direction. To match this vintage feel, the stop-motion animation was deliberately crafted with an analogue touch, using clay to sculpt lips and breath shapes. The handmade aesthetic added warmth and authenticity, reinforcing the brand’s playful yet timeless identity.
Objective:
Capture the essence of Dentyne’s refreshing and vibrant brand personality.
Use a handcrafted, stop-motion approach to create a visually engaging and nostalgic experience.
Infuse humour and spontaneity into the animation, embracing imperfections as part of the charm.
Process:
Material Selection: Clay was chosen to create organic, tactile shapes, adding an old-school animation charm.
Stop-Motion Execution: Frame-by-frame animation brought the clay lips and breath to life, enhancing the playful tone.
Embracing Mistakes: A humorous slip-up turned “Dentyne” into “Dentyen,” but rather than correcting it, the decision was made to keep it—turning an error into an unexpected yet memorable branding moment.
Outcome:
The final stop-motion animation delivered a fresh, witty take on the Dentyne brand, proving that sometimes, the best creative moments come from happy accidents. It reminded viewers that imperfection can be engaging, just like a spontaneous burst of laughter or a refreshing breath of air.
